We’re getting ready for cooler temperatures

The sting is now out of summer’s tail, the signal for citrus plants to get busy with the business of fruit manufacture. The cooler, shorter days stimulate in Citrus plants a last minute scramble for nutrient and essential minerals that will maintain plant growth and provide enough energy for citrus laden plants to push through, plump up and ripen the developing fruit.
Right about now, mid April, is the ideal time to give your treasured citrus plant a feed. Use a gentle organic fertiliser and follow the instructions provided. Take care if you are using fertiliser in pots, here we would recommend a control release, polymer coated fertiliser. Tonics are ideal as a supplement to feeding. Seaweed, fish or liquid blood and bone tonics are a delicious treat.
If your Citrus tree has yellow leaves now, you need to get on your hands and knees and apologise! You’ve let the tree get hungry, without overdoing it, seek forgiveness and get busy with the tucker.
